Direct Flight Girona Luxembourg: Luxair Launches New Regular Service
For the first time, Girona-Costa Brava Airport now offers a direct flight Girona Luxembourg. Luxair inaugurated the new route this Tuesday, creating fresh opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchange between both regions.
Two weekly flights until 29 August
The new service runs every Tuesday and Saturday until 29 August. Luxair operates the route using a Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft with 76 seats, making 3,952 seats available in total. Previously, the Vilobí d’Onyar terminal only connected to Luxembourg through charter flights.
The inauguration brought together key regional figures, including Miquel Noguer, President of the Diputació de Girona and the Costa Brava Girona Tourism Board; Jaume Fàbrega, President of the Girona Chamber of Commerce; and Vicent Pallarès, Director of Girona-Costa Brava Airport. Also present were Jordi Masquef, Deputy and First Vice President of the Costa Brava Tourism Board; Pau Rich, Director of the Generalitat’s Regional Services for Business and Work in Girona; Jaume Dulsat, President of the Girona Tourism Board; and Marven Bill, Luxair’s Head of Ground Operations and Agreements.
Expanding Girona Airport’s international network
With this new destination, Girona-Costa Brava Airport strengthens its international network and its commitment to market diversification. This summer, the airport connects passengers to 50 cities across 15 European countries.
The Airport’s Strategic Board leads the work of attracting new routes. This board includes the Diputació de Girona, the Generalitat de Catalunya — through Airports of Catalonia and the Catalan Tourism Agency — and the Girona Chamber of Commerce. Together, they promote the Vilobí d’Onyar terminal under the GROwing brand, successfully bringing airlines like Luxair on board.
About Luxair and Luxair tours

Promoting Girona-Costa Brava in Luxembourg on the first direct flight day with Luxair Tours
Founded in 1961, Luxair plays a central role in Luxembourg’s economy. In 2025, the airline served over 100 destinations worldwide — mainly across Europe — and carried more than 2.6 million passengers.
In 2026, Luxair began adding next-generation sustainable aircraft to its fleet. This move aims to cut emissions, boost operational efficiency, and improve the passenger experience.
Additionally, LuxairTours — Luxair’s tour operating division — packages the direct flight with Costa Brava hotels and transfer services. This makes it even easier for Luxembourg travellers to book a complete holiday to the region in a single step.
Moreover, the company follows a distinctive business model that combines competitive pricing, high service standards, and strong working conditions. As a result, Luxair remains a solid regional leader, firmly rooted in its community.
