easyJet Girona: two new routes to the UK from 2027
For the first time, easyJet will fly from Girona-Costa Brava Airport. From spring 2027, the airline will operate two new routes from the Vilobí d’Onyar terminal: Liverpool and London Gatwick. In total, easyJet will offer 17,000 seats on both routes. Moreover, all of them are already on sale.
The Diputació de Girona hosted the presentation of the new routes. Miquel Noguer, President of the Diputació de Girona, attended the event. Manel Nadal, Secretary for Mobility and Infrastructure of the Generalitat de Catalunya, also took part. In addition, Enric Dotras, Vice-President of the Girona Chamber of Commerce, joined them. Finally, Javier Gándara, easyJet’s General Manager for Southern Europe and Global Director of Policy, presented the details.
Girona–Liverpool: two weekly flights from 28 March
First, the Liverpool route starts on 28 March 2027. This date also marks the start of the summer season at the airport. Flights will run on Wednesdays and Sundays until the end of October. Overall, the route will offer 9,000 seats.
Girona–London Gatwick: up to three weekly flights in summer
Then, the London Gatwick route will take off on 3 June 2027. In June, September and October, it will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. However, easyJet will add a third weekly flight on Tuesdays in July and August. In total, this route will offer 8,000 seats.
Return fares start at €95 to Liverpool and €117 to London Gatwick. Prices depend on the date and availability. Travellers can already book their flights at easyjet.com. Furthermore, easyJet will operate all flights with Airbus A320 family aircraft.
Diversifying airlines and reducing seasonality
These new routes support the work of the Airport’s Strategic Board. The board brings together the Diputació de Girona, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Girona Chamber of Commerce. The Generalitat takes part through Airports of Catalonia and the Catalan Tourism Agency. Together, they promote the Vilobí d’Onyar terminal under the GROwing brand. Their goal is to attract new routes and airlines, such as easyJet. As a result, Girona-Costa Brava Airport keeps expanding its network of European destinations.
According to Miquel Noguer, the airport must diversify its airlines and avoid depending on just one or two. He also wants to reduce seasonality and boost activity in winter. “We have planted a seed with a well-established airline like easyJet that could offer us year-round flights,” he said.
Similarly, Manel Nadal said that the institutions’ joint strategy is paying off. He added that they will keep working to make the airport more competitive. In particular, they aim to diversify airlines, markets and destinations. Nadal also highlighted the focus on business aviation, with the Ryder Cup coming to the Girona region in 2031.
For his part, Enric Dotras stressed that both routes broaden the international reach of Girona’s businesses. In addition, they make the region more accessible to British professionals and companies.
“We are thrilled to welcome Girona to our airport network for the first time,” said Javier Gándara. According to Gándara, this step reflects easyJet’s ambition to keep growing in Spain, and especially in Catalonia.
